At RoastPlan, we recently said goodbye to one of the most storied and cherished coffees we’ve had the honor to roast: Yemeni Mokha.
The final batch of our Crimson Gold- crafted with heirloom Typica Mokha beans from the historic region of Haraaz, Yemen- were delivered to our RoastPlan subscribers last weekend. This particular lot brought notes of velvety chocolate, caramel sweetness, dried fruit brightness, and warm spice- true to the legacy of Mokha, one of the oldest and most revered coffee-growing traditions in the world.
Sourcing from Yemen has always been a complex challenge. Political instability, limited infrastructure, and fragile export pathways make every bag that reaches us feel like a small miracle. Unfortunately, these same challenges mean we can’t say for sure if or when Mokha will return to our lineup.
To all those who were able to experience this bean, thank you for joining us on the journey. It’s not just about coffee- it’s about heritage, resilience, and community.
Stay tuned- two exciting new beans are set to launch this week, and we can’t wait to share them with you.
